Easter on the Old Sunset Beach Bridge
April 4, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Easter at the Old Bridge is a special event for everyone, young and old, that’s not to be missed. Activities include the Easter Parade, sack race, Easter egg hunt, egg roll, and face painting. Admission is free and all are welcome. To sustain visitors after they have hopped, egg rolled and danced the bunny hop, Old Bridge Preservation Society volunteers will have ham biscuits, decorated cupcakes and beverages available to visitors free of charge. This takes place at the Old Bridge, 109 Shoreline Drive West, Sunset Beach.
The 68th Annual Azalea Festival
April 8, 2015 – April 12, 2015
The 68th Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival will be held April 8-12 in the nearby greater Wilmington area. The festival is a celebration of Wilmington’s outstanding gardens, artwork, culture and rich history. During the five days of entertainment come out and enjoy a parade, street fair, circus, concerts, pageantry, and much more that is Southern. Since its inception in 1948, the festival has blossomed into an extended weekend celebration that attracts more than 300,000 people. Events Include the Azalea 5k/Walk/Run, the Queen’s Coronation, the concert featuring beloved musical acts, Cape Fear Garden Club Azalea Tour, a Circus, Art Show, Street Fair, parade, coin show, boxing match, historic home show plus so much more! Holden Beach Days at the Docks Festival
April 25, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Holden Beach’s Days at the Docks hosts over 50 arts and crafts vendors and a dozen food vendors at the Holden Beach Pavilion. There will be live entertainment including some great beach music all day. For the kids, there will be inflatable rides, huge kites flying overhead and a free children’s area with games and face painting. Walk around the festival or stop by the Pavilion and have a seat to listen to some great bands. For those who love to dance there is plenty of space to shag or line dance. Around 3:30 pm (depending on the tides), the world famous “Bopple Race” takes place. Buy your “Bopples” from any merchant prior to or at the festival. Bopples are $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00, or a full sheet for $35.00. There will be three $100.00 prizes and you don’t need to be present to win. Come out and enjoy this free festival!
