Early Morning Sunrise

Who owns the property?
Vacation Rentals are owned by private individuals, just like you, who have made their properties available to Vacationers through an Agent, like us. When you reserve your property, the property owner takes the property off of the market for your dates of stay, and can not rent it to anyone else for those dates, even though the next customer may desire the same property and dates. Many property owners rent their properties short term during the Spring, Summer, and Fall; and long term during the winter months.

What if I can't check-in until after your offices close?
If you can't get here before our offices close, and you need to have a late check-in, be sure to notify us ahead of time so we make other arrangements. If you are not paid in full, a late check-in will not be possible.

Things that are beyond our control:
The Alan Holden Vacations staff works very hard to make sure your stay is happy and comfortable. However, there are things that are out of our control, just as there are things out of your control at your home. Please understand that there will be no refunds or discounts offered or expected for such things. Examples of these types of things that are out of our control include: breakdown of air conditioners, TV's, VCR's, electronics and appliances, construction nearby, presence of bugs in a treated home, beach accesses unusable due to acts of nature, a home not decorated to your tastes, bad weather (including hurricanes), noisy neighbors, or beach access location. We will do everything we can to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.

What does Travel Insurance cover?

Coverage includes some medical emergencies and MANDATORY evacuations due to hurricanes when ordered by emergency management control groups. The charge is based on the rental rate and is included on all leases.  Only rent is covered in the policy.  No fees or additional charges of any kind will be covered. Some restrictions may apply. If you have any questions, please contact C.S.A. Travel insurance toll-free at (800) 348-9505 or call us at (800) 720-2200.

Is there any construction going on near our vacation home?

Due to the growing housing market, Alan Holden Vacations can not predict construction plans in the area. You may reserve a house at a time when there is no construction in progress nearby, but construction could begin prior to your arrival. We regret any inconvenience that may result, but we have absolutely no control in these situations and are not able to facilitate relocations or refunds.

Where is the closest airport?

Wilmington International Airport is the closest major airport, and is located in Wilmington, NC. Please visit their website for more information. There is also the Myrtle Beach, SC airport. More information can also be found on their site.

Are dogs allowed on the beach?

Pets are not allowed on the beach from May 20 to September 10, except between 5 P.M. and 9 A.M. daily. Pets must be on a leash at all times on the island.

Where is the closest public boat ramp?

The closest public boat ramp is located under the Holden Beach Bridge at Capt. Pete’s Seafood that is on the island side.  The other public boat ramp is under the Holden Beach Bridge on the mainland side at the Holden Beach Marina.

Where is the closest grocery store?

There is only one small grocery store on the island.  It is located at 473 Ocean Blvd. West (about a block from the Fishing Pier) and it carries basic supplies. There is a large chain grocery store (Food Lion) that is located just over the Holden Beach Bridge.  Go to the stoplight and turn right.  Go about 200 yards and Food Lion is on your left.

Are fires allowed on the beach?

No, beach fires are strictly prohibited on Holden Beach at any time.

When is my payment due?

The unpaid balance of the base rent plus taxes and all other charges are due 30 days prior to check-in. Personal checks are not accepted within 30 days of arrival.

What is the phone number at our vacation home?

Your cottage telephone number is included on your confirmation letter and check-in packet. You may also contact our office for this information.

What time is Check-Out?

10:00 am is check-out time for all homes without exception. Keys should be returned to our office by 10:00 am. Alan Holden Vacations has an after-hours Pick up/Drop off box for early arrivals and departures. Please refer to the back of your check-in packet for departure instructions.

Am I allowed to park an RV, camper, etc. at the home?

We are sorry, but campers, RVs and mobile units are not allowed at any rental property and may not be parked at the home for additional sleeping space.
