From the North

You will likely need to take I-95 South to I-40 East. Travel down I-40 East towards Wilmington, NC. You will drive until you come to Exit 416-A (This is the 140 West/HWY- 17 South exit) towards Myrtle Beach/Shallotte. Once you get off on 140 West, you will travel appromimately 6 miles.  You will need to get off at Exit 14 (Brunswick County Beaches / Shallotte).  As you go down the ramp, you will need to stay to the right and merge with the traffic on HWY 421. After you merge, you will then travel straight through the next stoplight and keep going.  After this light, you will then travel for a mile or so and you need to take the HWY-17 South exit to the right.  Traffic will then merge with HWY-74. After you merge with the out of town traffic leaving Wilmington, you will need to get off on the second exit to get on to HWY-17 South.  Once you get on HWY-17 South, proceed for about 35 minutes until you pass a Chevrolet and Ford dealership. About a mile past these dealerships you will need to turn left at the light which will lead you into Shallotte (Business HWY-17). After you get onto Business-17, drive to the next light and turn left onto HWY-130. You are almost there now!! Once you make this turn onto HWY-130, you will then drive about 6 miles or so until you come to a stop sign. Make a right turn and keep following this road until you come to a stop light with an Exxon gas station on your right. You need to turn right at this light onto the Holden Beach Causeway and proceed to Holden Beach. As you come down the bridge onto the island, Alan Holden Vacations will be on your immediate right. Welcome to our beautiful island!

From the South

Follow HWY-17 North to Shallotte, NC. When you see an Ashley Furniture store on your right, you will need to go under the overpass and immediately get off on the next exit ramp.  This exit ramp is only about 50 yards past the overpass.  Look for the HWY-130 sign. As you come up the exit ramp, you will notice a Wendy’s and a Lowe’s Home Improvement store on your left. Here you will need to turn left onto HWY-130. Once you are on HWY-130, drive about one mile until you come to a stop light. Turn left onto Business HWY-17. This will take you through the town of Shallotte. Drive about 2 miles or so until you see a Chili’s restaurant on your right. After you pass Chili’s, look for a CVS drug store on your right. There is a stoplight at this CVS and you will need to turn right and continue on HWY-130. You will then drive about 6 miles or so until you come to a stop sign. Make a right run and keep following this road until you come to a stop light with an Exxon gas station on your right. You need to turn right at this light onto the Holden Beach Causeway and proceed to Holden Beach. As you come down the bridge onto the island, Alan Holden Vacations will be on your immediate right.

From the Wilmington Airport

Take a left onto 23rd Street. You will need to get onto Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy. Once you get on the parkway, look for the Whiteville exit.  It is within a mile or so of getting on the parkway. After you get off on the Whiteville exit, follow the road as it will take you over the Isabella Holmes Bridge.  After you cross the bridge, turn left onto Highway 421. Follow the signs that say Brunswick County Beaches.
