Head over to nearby town Sunset Beach to experience their very own fall festival. The town of Sunset Beach is hosting a community block party where your family can enjoy lots of food, fun and arts & crafts. This is the 13th year that the festival has been going on and many locals love heading to it for family quality time. From getting to listen to some amazing music all day to trying new food from many local restaurants, there’s always something for everyone. Don’t miss coming to this fun day being held on October 5th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in Sunset Beach!

39th Annual NC Oyster Festival

Don’t miss this year’s annual NC Oyster Festival happening in Ocean Isle Beach this year. This happens to be the 39th year that they have been hosting it and we can tell you that you won’t want to miss out on any of the fun. On October 19th and 20th your family can get to experience this amazing festival that will have lots of fun things for everyone in the family. From listening to live music to eating your weight of oysters there is something for everyone. And don’t go home empty handed as you explore the arts and crafts from the local vendors that will be at the festival this year. Take home one of their treasures to remember your trip to Holden Beach or give as gifts for Christmas this year. No matter what this is a festival you don’t want to miss!

Wilmington’s Riverfest

Coming back for another year is Wilmington’s Riverfest happening by the waterfront in downtown Wilmington. This fun 2-day event is one that many families who live on the North Carolina Coast love to head to every year. From getting to try new foods from many of the local restaurants to getting to watch fireworks like it’s the 4th of July. We can guarantee that no one in the family will be bored. This weekend long festival will be one that you won’t want to miss with the family. Plus, there will be a street fair, kids’ zone and much more! Just think of heading to Wilmington for the day as you explore the other festivals happening around the area.

Vacationing to the North Carolina Coast during the month of October is fun for the whole family. If your family is looking for a fun July 4th festival then head over to Ocean Isle Beach on Thursday, July 4th where you can watch the 4th of July Parade. The parade will begin at 10:00 am and you will be able to see the spectacular decorated floats & golf carts, If you would like to watch the fireworks, head over on July 3rd to the Ocean Isle Beach Pier to view them. Don’t miss the fun that Ocean Isle Beach has to offer you on your next family vacation to Holden Beach. 

4th of July in Southport

The City of Southport has an amazing 4th of July celebration that will begin on July 1st and ends on July 4th, 2019. Your family will be able to enjoy several different things such as the Flag Raising Ceremony, Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony and so much more. There will be plenty of things for the kids to do as there will be entertainment, games and even a pancake breakfast. Make this a tradition to visit every year as you celebrate this festival.

If you are looking for a great fireworks show, then head to nearby Wilmington on July 4th. There are several different places where your family can sit down and relax to watch the annual 4th of July fireworks. One of the best places to sit and watch them would be at Battleship Park. Bring a blanket or towel to sit down and enjoy the amazing display. The firework display will begin around 9:00 pm so come and grab a quick bite to eat and find the perfect spot by the waterfront to watch the fireworks display. What a fun evening to spend in nearby Wilmington with the family.

Ocean Isle Beach Concert

Want to attend a free concert in the nearby town, Ocean Isle Beach? Head to the Museum of the Coastal Carolinas on Friday, August 31st at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. See the Entertainers which have been sharing beach music with others for over 30 years. What a great night filled with fun, dancing and entertainment with your family. Don’t miss out on this fun night to spend with friends and family, dancing the night away!

Art Festival in Oak Island

Come to Holden Beach for Labor Day Weekend

Do you like the arts or purchasing handmade goods? If you do, then go to Middleton Park in Oak Island for the 28th Annual Oak Island Art Guild Arts & Craft Festival. This is happening on Saturday, September 1st from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be more than 100 artists and craft vendors there where you can shop for those gifts or for items for your home. From pottery, stained glass, woodcarvings to garden items there will be something that you can find at this craft festival. What a great way to grab some handmade Christmas gifts this year!

Oak Island Labor Day Surf Off

Come to Oak Island Labor Day Weekend for the 15th Annual Labor Day Surf Off happening at the Oceancrest Pier. This is happening on Saturday, September 1st from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be different categories for all ages and abilities. What a fantastic way to spend the day at the beach than to watch a surf off of local surfers. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen, beach chairs and towels with you! You don’t want to burn while you watch these guys shred some waves!

Holden Beach Summer Concert

Come to Holden Beach for Labor Day Weekend

Come celebrate the final concert in the Holden Beach Concert series for the season on September 2nd. Gather at the Holden Beach Pavilion at 6:30 pm for you to enjoy some fun, music and dancing. Join the Imitations for some good fun with everyone while you enjoy a free concert before heading home. Bring your beach chairs with you and a few bottles of water or soda and just enjoy the time you have down at the beach with your friends and family. Don’t miss out on this fun loaded night in Holden Beach this year!

Halloween Happenings in Brunswick County

Just once a year a holiday like Halloween comes along that encourages everyone from children to grandparents to dress up and pretend to be someone other than who they are. Usually there’s a great deal of candy involved – either giving it out or collecting it. It’s great fun for many people! Years ago there used to only be door to door trick-or-treating but these days communities are filled with special events being held specifically for the holiday. We recommend you check out any of the following Halloween happenings in Brunswick County. We’re sure you’ll have a great time!
 
Boo at the Beach
Boo at the Beach in Holden Beach
October 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Holden Beach Pavilion on Jordan Blvd. This is a free event that’s open to the public and features booths with carnival games for children. Dress up and enter the Best Halloween Costume Contest taking place at 6:30 p.m.
 
Haunted Trail
Haunted Trail in Ocean Isle Beach
October 21-22 and Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. at the Grissettown Longwood Fire and Rescue, 758 Longwood Rd., Ocean Isle Beach. This is a family friendly haunted trail open every Friday and Saturday night in October as well as on Halloween. Enjoy a self-guided tour that takes 30 minutes to complete. This event has received two local awards in the past for being the scariest haunted attraction. Fee $10.
 
Spirit of Brunswick

October 21 at 7 p.m. 8884 St Philip’s Rd. SE, Winnabow, NC Haunting tales depicted from the colonial port of Brunswick. Tours start at 7 and 7:30 p.m. Reservations required by calling 910-371-6613. Price $5 per person. Not recommended for children under 8 years old.
 
Batty Battleship’s Halloween Bash

October 25 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Battleship North Carolina, The Mainland. Ghouls and goblins will enjoy trick-or-treating on the Battleship. There will be games, activities, a petting zoo and storytelling. Children encouraged to wear costumes. Price $5 per person; children 2 and under admitted free.

Free Family 5k Color Run

Every year Holden Beach hosts a free, family-oriented 5K race that all Brunswick County locals and vacationers alike are welcome to participate in. On October 10, the Free Family 5k Color Run is taking place starting at 123 Jordan Blvd., Holden Beach.

Come out and join in this family fun event whether you walk, run or do a little bit of both – everyone is welcome to join us! Younger children, age 5 and under, that want to ride their bikes are welcome to do so.

 

For the best effect, either wear a white shirt or purchase a white event t-shirt, and enjoy the color burst. There are 400 t-shirts available for this race so please reserve your t-shirt by emailing your size to nawestfa@gmail.com. T-shirts are $10 each. Your shirt will be held for until 30 minutes before the race. All t-shirt money will go back into this race and the other running programs that keep kids active.

 

Be here by 9 a.m. for registration. The race begins at 10 a.m.! The start of the Color Run is just a short distance from any of our Alan Holden Vacation rentals.

 

Free Family 5k Color Run

 

The purpose of this event is to have as many families as possible come out and enjoy getting exercise. Dogs, cats, gorillas, and baby strollers are also all welcome!
