Holden Beach, NC

Holden Beach, North Carolina is an island that is neatly tucked away in the southernmost part of Brunswick County. Holden Beach is one of five islands that make up the North Carolina Brunswick Islands and is located only 35 minutes south of Wilmington, NC and 30 minutes north of Myrtle Beach, SC. Our year-round moderate temperatures make this island a very satisfying vacation destination all year long.

To the north of Holden Beach lies the Intracoastal Waterway, an inland waterway that runs all the way down the Atlantic coast from Boston, Massachusetts down to Florida’s southern tip and into the Gulf of Mexico. The Intracoastal Waterway provides Holden Beach with nine miles of calm water on the island's north side, which makes it perfect for boating, skiing and fishing. Whether you bring your bike, boat, running shoes or flip flops, you are sure to enjoy yourself.

Here at Holden Beach you won't find any flashing neon signs or high-rise buildings! The traditional, laid-back beach town vibe is thanks to building height restrictions that limit construction to just 35 feet. Holden Beach is focused on being a small "family beach" and preserving the old-fashioned beach town experience that our guests know and love so much. In the 2005 Yahoo! "Spring Vacation Guide", Holden Beach was ranked #4 for the Top Ten Places to Buy a Second Home. Again in the spring of 2012, Holden Beach was recognized by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as one of the 10 Best American Beaches, and was rated 9th out of all US beaches in the Family Beach category. Points were awarded for various categories such as sand softness, water temperature and clarity, and number of sunny days per year. Check out our Holden Beach webcam for year-round views of one of America’s best beaches!

Since 1756 when the Holden family purchased the island from England for 50 shillings, the Holden's have been promoting natural coastal development and welcoming new guests to our beautiful paradise by the sea. Vacation Rentals are owned by private individuals, just like you, who have made their properties available to Vacationers through an Agent, like us. When you reserve your property, the property owner takes the property off of the market for your dates of stay, and can not rent it to anyone else for those dates, even though the next customer may desire the same property and dates. Many property owners rent their properties short term during the Spring, Summer, and Fall; and long term during the winter months.
